Baste

Terms of service

Last updated 18 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Northstar Engineering Ltd, 597 Bernardin de St Pierre, Vallée des Prêtres, Port Louis, Mauritius (“we”, “us”), for your use of the Baste app and the factory sheet pages (together, “Baste”). By creating an account or using Baste you agree to them. If you use Baste for a company, you confirm you may accept these terms on its behalf, and “you” includes that company.

1. What Baste does

Baste records a spoken sample review with photos, uses automated transcription and AI to draft corrections, lets you review and edit them, and builds a correction sheet you can send to a factory by PDF, email or link. Factory recipients can open a sheet link without an account, mark items done and ask questions.

2. Eligibility and accounts

3. Your content

You (or your studio) own the recordings, photos, tech packs, corrections, sheets and other material you put into Baste (“your content”). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to provide and secure Baste for you, including sending it to the service providers listed in our privacy policy. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it to train AI models.

You are responsible for having the rights to your content and for telling people when you record them. Do not upload content you are not allowed to share.

4. AI output and your responsibility

Transcripts, corrections, measurements read from tech packs and translations are produced automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. Baste shows them to you for review before anything is sent. You are responsible for checking a sheet before you send it and for the instructions you give your factories. Baste is a drafting tool, not a substitute for your professional judgement, and we are not responsible for production decisions, sample costs or delays that result from content you send.

5. Factory links

Anyone who has a sheet link can view that sheet and respond to it until you withdraw the link. Share links only with people you trust. Factory recipients may use the sheet page only to work on the sample it describes.

6. Plans, trials and payment

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Baste to:

8. Third-party services

Baste relies on third-party services such as the app stores, sign-in providers, hosting, transcription and AI providers. Their own terms may also apply to you, for example Apple’s and Google’s terms for purchases.

9. Our intellectual property

Baste, its software, design and brand belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your studio while these terms apply. Feedback you send us may be used to improve Baste without obligation to you.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep Baste available and your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or remove features; if we stop offering Baste, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using Baste and delete your account at any time in the app (Studio → Delete account); deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription, which you cancel in your store settings. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or put other users or Baste at risk, after notice where reasonable.

12. Disclaimers

Except as required by law, Baste is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose or that output will be accurate.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data or business interruption, and our total liability for any claim relating to Baste is limited to the amount you paid us for Baste in the 12 months before the claim (or USD 100 if you used a free plan). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where those apply.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius, and the courts of Mauritius have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post changes here and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Baste after that means you accept the updated terms.
